President Zhang confirms Chelsea talks to happen over powerhouse
Inter president Steven Zhang claims the club are yet to hold talks with CHELSEA over a permanent deal for Romelu Lukaku, but has suggested conversations are on the way.
Lukaku was a massive flop for us last season and the club decided to send him back to Italian football with Inter Milan – despite the fact they didnt have an adequate replacement.
But Lukaku has no desire to make a return to Stamford Bridge during the summer window and instead would like to stay with the Italian giants – who in return – are open to keeping him again for another season.
He has made it clear during his last stint with the club that he would prefer to be playing for Inter Milan and it appears that his attitude has not changed,
The Belgium international has struggled with injuries this season but still managed to end the campaign with 14 goals in all competitions.
Zhang, however, has indicated that Inter will attempt to work out a deal with CHELSEA this summer
‘He [Lukaku] has shown to be a great forward for Inter, he’s an extraordinary guy,’ Zhang said after Inter’s defeat.
‘He’s under contract at Chelsea, so we’ll have to wait and speak with them to understand his situation.
‘There are many positive things to reflect on this season, it needs to be a starting point to continue our growth day after day.
‘Coming here and playing as we did in this final is something that will live long in the memory.’
