Roman Abramovich gives Lampard “Final” deadline date to improve Chelsea’s poor form
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is under pressure at the club following a poor run of form that has the Blues lose 4 of our last 6 Premier League games.
While Lampard’s job is under no immediate threat despite reports claiming a shortlist of replacements have been compiled, the Chelsea legend has been given a deadline by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to turn things around at the club.
According to The Sun via Daily Star, Abramovich has given Lampard till the end of the season to prove he is worthy of continuing as Chelsea boss.
Lampard is halfway through his three-year contract and the club is reluctant to sack the legend midway through the season but will do so at the end of the season if Lampard fails to meet his objective of at least a Champions League qualification.
Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic admits the tension is cranking up and that ninth-placed Chelsea need to deliver soon.
The American international, 22, said: “We’re in a tough period. It’s not going to be easy but we need to show character now.
“We have some games coming up where we need to turn it around quickly and start putting together a run of results.”
