The 23-year old has been out injured since the start of last summer and his recovery process has been taking some time.
But it is encouraging signs to hear that he has been training with the Under-16s, and will then be moving up through the ranks, kind of like starting it all again.
But the England international was in fine form for Chelsea before the injury and he and the club will be hoping that he will be able to rediscover that form once he is fully fit again and ready to go.
Lampard has revealed that he expects Loftus-Cheek to be back in first team training in February, after the winter break.
This is great news, but Blues fans will have to remain patient, as it might be a long while before we see him back to his absolute best again after such a serious injury.
