“Sell me to Chelsea or I ruin your team” – Player reveals what to do if club doesn’t sell him to Chelsea
Chelsea’s pursuit of top-class goalkeeper Mike Maignan has taken a dramatic turn, with fresh reports from L’Équipe revealing the French international’s firm stance on securing a move to Stamford Bridge.
Despite efforts from new AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri to convince him to stay, Maignan remains unwavering in his desire to join the Blues this summer.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper has made it clear to his representatives that if Milan refuses to sell him, he is prepared to run down his contract and leave the Serie A giants on a free transfer next summer.
It’s a risky move for Maignan, as there’s no guarantee Chelsea would still be in for him in 12 months’ time. But it underlines just how committed he is to making the switch now.
Chelsea, for their part, view Maignan as a major upgrade between the sticks. Enzo Maresca is said to have personally approved the push to sign the Frenchman.
According to Italian journalist Daniele Longo, things may be moving in a good direction.
“Positive contacts between Milan and Chelsea for Maignan in the afternoon,” Longo tweeted.
However, the clubs have been far in their valuations of the player. Chelsea have been unwilling to pay a fee in the region of ₤25m that Milan have been demanding.
