“Sign new contract or no Football” – Chelsea drop Chelsea star from first team after contract issues

The Blues have some highly regarded young players rising through the ranks, and Chelsea has a lot of talented young players at its disposal.

Josh Acheampong is one of these young athletes. Josh Acheampong is highly regarded by Chelsea, but they also want him to dedicate his future to the team.

According to Simon Johnson and Liam Twomey of The Athletic, Chelsea has informed Josh Acheampong that he would not be playing for either the first team or the development squad “until he signs a new contract.”

Acheampong’s current contract with Chelsea expires in 2026, and although a new agreement is being discussed, it has not yet been finalized.

Acheampong is a right-back who can also play a centre-back.

Premier League sides Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are said to be monitoring the situation. The Independent’s Miguel Delaney has said Real Madrid could also consider a January move for the 18-year-old.

Acheampong made his senior debut under former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino against Tottenham in February and was taken on the club’s pre-season tour of the USA ahead of the more experienced Trevoh Chalobah in the summer.

The Chelsea academy product has made just one appearance under Enzo Maresca so far, playing 27 minutes as a substitute against Barrow in the Carabao Cup on September 24. He has not been in the matchday squad since then.
