Chelsea really have surprised a lot of people this season.
After struggling last time out under Antonio Conte, the Blues have taken to Maurizio Sarri like a duck to water and look set to challenge for the Premier League title yet again.
A lot of their fine form is due to the resurgence of Eden Hazard who has been simply unplayable at certain times this season.
The diminutive Belgian tops the scoring charts with seven goals, two ahead of Manchester City hitman Sergio Aguero.
Add to that his three assists and you can understand why Chelsea are level with City and Liverpool at the summit of the league.
However, Chelsea’s fine form certainly cannot be attributed to Hazard alone with some of their deeper lying midfielders providing a wonderful base upon which to build their attack upon.
N’Golo Kante, as usual, has been imperious for Chelsea, but it has been the performances of new signing Jorginho that have really caught the eye.
The former Napoli man was the subject of quite the tussle between Manchester City and Chelsea during the transfer window and you can see why.
The statistics behind his incredible passing show just how much of a puppet master he is, pulling the strings at the base of the Chelsea midfield with terrifying ease.
In fact, he tops the charts for the most passes completed in the league with 853 – a whole 111 ahead of his nearest challenger, Aymeric Laporte.
It doesn’t end there though.
The Italian has averaged 106.33 passes per game and even broke the Premier League record for the most attempted passes in a single match.
It is not hard to see why Pep Guardiola was so eager to sign the 26-year-old and why Sarri would have been desperate to have him follow from Napoli.
Jorginho is only set to grow into his role too, and Chelsea fans will certainly be excited about his potential.
With Antonio Rudiger (629), David Luiz (614) and Cesar Azpilicueta (579) also in the top ten passers this season, it is no surprise that the Stamford Bridge side are right up there challenging for top honours.
