“Take a bow,” “He’s the reason we dont lose” “Respect his name” – Fans explode the internet after Chelsea star massive display in 0-0 Brentford draw
Following another brilliant performance on Wednesday, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has once again left Chelsea supporters in awe of his comeback.
The 28-year-old made several excellent stops to preserve his sixth straight clean sheet as Brentford held the Blues to a scoreless draw. Since his transfer from Athletic Bilbao to Stamford Bridge in 2018, Kepa has had a generally unpleasant time there.
After making a string of high-profile mistakes that cost Chelsea games, he has only made 11 top-flight appearances in the last two full seasons.
Kepa, who continues to be the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, just received a chance to return to the starting lineup as a result of an injury and Eduoard Mendy’s decline in form.
The international player from Spain backed up his man-of-the-match performance against Aston Villa with another outstanding performance against the Bees. Brentford had numerous chances to score, but Ivan Toney was unable to convert any of them as Kepa secured a point for his team in the west London derby.
As Graham Potter’s team lost ground in the battle for fourth place, fans praised the frequently criticized goalkeeper’s performance on Twitter after the game:
@ConnCFC: Chalobah needs respect put on his name. If it wasn’t for him and Kepa today Chelsea don’t keep a clean sheet.
@CFCDUBois: Kepa & his fiancé are the reason we didn’t lose. Pulisic HAS to start, I sound like a broken record these past few months.
@CFCDUBois:Nah Kepa’s fiancé take a bow
@eli_helenek:Another ridiculous save by Kepa, he’s in incredible form right now
@LondonBluePod:Kepa Arrizabalaga has kept 5 clean sheets in a row for the very first time in his Chelsea career. 🧤
In the form of his life!
