Frank Lampard’s start to life as Chelsea manager has been characterised by enormous trust in his young players. The 41-year-old could soon introduce another of Chelsea’s young stars into first-team action.
Callum Hudson-Odoi’s breakthrough campaign was one of Chelsea’s highlights last season. The 18-year-old amassed 24 appearances for the Blues last term, contributing towards ten goals (five scored, five assists).
His form in the club’s triumphant Europa League campaign was impressive as the teenager scored four goals and set up a further two in nine European appearances.
Having resisted concerted efforts from Bayern Munich to prize the Englishman away from the club, the youngster received opportunities to showcase his talent. Such was his influence, an Achilles tendon rupture in a 2-2 draw against Burnley in April served as devastating news to the club and supporters.
Thankfully, the 18-year-old has already returned to the Blues’ first-team training as reported by the club’s official website in late August.
Base on football.london, Hudson-Odoi will likely return to action for Chelsea after the international break. Excitement is already brewing ahead of the starlet’s return, as demonstrated by fans’ reactions to the teenager showcasing his skills on Chelsea’s official Twitter account.
