Jose Mourinho praised Chelsea Academy as he attributes the current abundance of young talents at Stamford Bridge to the work that has been done at the youth development department for many years.
The Portuguese said on the Chelsea new generation represented by the likes of Abraham, Mount, Tomori and Hudson-Odoi:
“They are good players. You see the results of Chelsea’s youth team over the past six, seven, eight years and they win everything.
“The club is working for many years very well at that level. Even the loan system and the way they did it was with a purpose, with a clear objective, for example, Christiansen, the two years in Germany, it was a fantastic loan.
“Some of the boys, they’ve not done enough and the decision is to sell and reinvest that money but that system was sometimes criticised because of the huge number of players that they have but now you see the result of their work. I think they’ve done very well.
“Chelsea have very good people working at academy level, at recruitment level, the clear definition of objectives, the training mattered, the coaches that were taking care of the development of the kids, the loan system, the control of the loan system, they did very, very well.
“At this moment, these kids that were in my time were 12, 13, 14, 15-years-old, now they’re in their 20’s and are fantastic players of course.”
