“They’re out” – Enzo Maresca confirms two important Chelsea players will miss Everton clash
Chelsea’s injury situation has been updated by manager Enzo Maresca, who has disclosed that defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile will be out for a long time.
“Unfortunately, Badiashile and Fofana are still out and both are still going to be out for a long period,” Maresca stated prior to Chelsea’s match against Everton.
The Frenchman had established himself as a vital component of Maresca’s system in the early months of the season, so the Blues are particularly challenged by Fofana’s absence.
On the availability of other players, Maresca added, “Joao Felix and Noni Madueke [are] both fine, Roméo Lavia will struggle to play Sunday (against Everton).”
With Fofana unavailable, Chelsea will need to turn to Axel Disasi or Tosin Adarabioyo to fill the void at centre-back. The defensive duo will aim to maintain solidity at the back, starting with a crucial clean sheet in their upcoming fixture against Everton.
