“Time to start using him” “Fresh plans for him” – Maresca tells Chelsea fans on 25-years-old Chelsea star
Joao Felix has been suggested by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca as a possible remedy to stop the growing practice of other teams man-marking Cole Palmer out of games. Speaking about the difficulty, Maresca emphasized how crucial it is to come up with alternate plans to help the rising star.
“The next step for Cole is to manage that moment because most teams mark him man-to-man,” Maresca explained.
“One of the solutions could be Joao, maybe Joao and Cole together. Depends.”
Despite the challenges, Maresca praised Palmer’s work ethic and creativity: “We try to continue with Cole because there were some moments he could create something. Off the ball, he works hard.”
However, the Chelsea boss emphasised the need to share the responsibility within the team: “We cannot rely on Cole’s shoulders every game.”
The introduction of Joao Felix alongside Palmer could offer Chelsea a new dimension in attack, giving opponents more to think about and reducing the burden on the talented midfielder.
