Todd Boehly gets Roman Abramovich clear message as Chelsea owner sent new instruction

Comparing Roman Abramovich’s tenure as the Blues’ owner to Todd Boehly’s tenure at Chelsea, William Gallas has taken issue with the latter.

Chelsea has signed a great deal of young players, but they have battled to be consistent over the past few seasons. Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and now Mauricio Pochettino have all struggled to construct a winning team, and the Blues are headed for their second consecutive season without playing in Europe.

Gallas, a former Chelsea defender, has also questioned if Stamford Bridge’s current roster includes “the right people.” He also mentioned how, in the past, they would consistently win trophies, even in the event of a dismal season; their final trophy came in 2021.

“Under Abramovich, Chelsea always used to win regardless of if they were having a good or bad year, and that’s because they always had a strategy. When you run a club, you need to have people around you who know their job and want to do well,” he told Gambling Zone.

“It looks like, at the moment at Chelsea, they don’t have the right people. I’m talking about the sporting director, the scouts and the people who give the advice over which players to sign and which ones have to leave.

“Chelsea won’t qualify for the Champions League, at the beginning of the season I was thinking maybe we would qualify for the Europa League; but now even that looks like it won’t happen. That would be unacceptable for Abramovich and that’s why he was so successful.”
