Todd Boehly makes ‘contact’ to beat Liverpool and Man City to record-breaking ace
Chelsea have reportedly made the first step in their attempted pursuit of record-breaking 15-year-old Francesco Camarda after the AC Milan star was linked with a move to the Premier League.
Camarda became the youngest-ever Serie A player at the weekend when he came off the bench in Milan’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina.
Coming on for Luka Jovic in the 83rd minute, the striker also became the youngest player in the club’s history, beating Paolo Maldini’s record.
Milan’s injury crisis meant Stefano Pioli was forced to turn to youth off the bench. The talented forward, who Milan had to secure a special exemption for with the Italian FA not generally permitting players under 16, is a name that has been dotted everywhere in the last few days, but on the transfer front, clubs are apparently lining-up.
According to 90min, Chelsea are among the potential suitors for Camarda. Several European clubs are monitoring the hotshot’s situation at Milan, with Manchester City and Liverpool also keen. The report states that the Blues have contacted the striker’s family in hope of finding out about his preference.
Unfortunately for the Premier League trio, clubs in England are unable to sign players under the age of 18 who do not possess British citizenship. That does give teams in Europe a free pass to sign any starlets under 16 due to the European Union’s relaxed migration rules.
Camarda has reportedly scored over 400 goals during his time in Milan’s academy, so it’s obvious why some of Europe’s biggest clubs are keen on him.
However, it’s said that Camarda and his family are settled in Milan and it’s extremely likely that he will sign a professional contract once he turns 16.
