Todd Boehly to seal £85m double deal for Enzo Maresca

Chelsea’s summer schedule may be packed as new manager Enzo Maresca works to assemble a team that can contend for championships.

In 2024–2025, the Blues will play in the Europa Conference League in addition to the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup. As Maresca attempts to adopt his possession-based aggressive style of play, players will have plenty of opportunities to try and impress him.

However, Chelsea is anticipated to be active in the transfer market before to the start of the season as several players are set to arrive and depart. Conor Gallagher is one of the players who might depart from Stamford Bridge in the upcoming days.

The Blues are open to selling the midfielder this summer should they receive an offer that matches their £50million valuation. The England international has just over 12 months remaining on his contract and is wanted by Aston Villa and Tottenham.

Chelsea are open to the departure of Gallagher with any sale accounting for pure profit to align with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Tottenham have a long-standing interest in the Chelsea midfielder, while Aston Villa are trying to strengthen their squad ahead of next season when they will be playing Champions League football. In recent days, Villa have been in contact with Gallagher’s representatives over a possible move to the Midlands.

Should Gallagher leave Chelsea this summer you would expect Maresca to want a replacement. According to The Sun, the Blues boss has already put forward Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as a potential option.

Maresca and Dewsbury-Hall have a good relationship following their time at Leicester City last season, where they gained promotion to the Premier League. It’s reported the Italian is an admirer of the 25-year-old midfielder, who scored 12 goals and bagged 15 assists for Leicester last term.

According to Transfermarkt Dewsbury-Hall is valued at £25.5million, although given his importance to the team it’s likely the Foxes would ask for much more. In January it was reported that Leicester were asking for upwards of £35million for the Englishman, with any sale helping the club’s financial problems.

It remains to be seen if Dewsbury-Hall or Gallagher make moves to and from west London this summer. Below is what Chelsea’s line-up would look like if Dewsbury-Hall did join the Blues and Gallagher departed.

Best Chelsea line-up if Dewsbury-Hall signs and Gallagher departs: Sanchez; James, Badiashile, Colwill, Chilwell; Caicedo, Fernandez, Dewsbury-Hall; Palmer, Jackson, Nkunku.
