There appears to be a healthy competition emerging between David De Gea and Kepa Arrizabalaga as they fight for Spain’s number one shirt.
The Manchester United goalkeeper was previously the first choice for La Roja, but a poor World Cup in Russia put his spot in danger, and the Chelsea shot-stopper is now giving him something to think about.
The latter has started each of the last four Euro 2020 qualifiers for his national team, including Thursday’s fixture against Romania in Bucharest.
It proved to be a close encounter, but the 2010 World Cup winners eventually came away with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Sergio Ramos and Paco Alcacer.
However, it could have been much different were it not for a fantastic reaction save from the Blues goalkeeper.
