Michy Batshuayi scored for Valencia against Young Boys last night, as if Chelsea fans weren’t frustrated enough by our striker predicament.
Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have scored a combined three times in 21 appearances for the Blues so far this campaign.
They have their individual strengths, but their weaknesses in front of goal are holding us back.
Batshuayi is the striker on our books most likely to produce a respectable goal-haul, yet we made the decision to loan him out to Valencia in the summer.
Sometimes this club really does baffle us.
The Belgian scored his second goal of the season for Valencia against Young Boys on Tuesday evening. His excellent movement left him one-on-one with the goalkeeper, who he took the ball around before finding the back of the net.
Batshuayi has to get a chance next season, even if he is unable to deliver the goods for Valencia this season.
He has raw talent which, if harnessed effectively, could provide Chelsea with the striker we have been waiting for since Diego Costa departed.
