Cesc Fabregas has missed our opening four Premier League games through injury, but looks to now be on the road to recovery.
Following Chelsea’s penalty shootout loss to Arsenal during pre-season, Fabregas revealed on his Instagram story (@cescf4bregas) that an injury he suffered during the game had left him on crutches.
Bizarrely, Fabregas featured in the Community Shield at Wembley just four days later. He looked off the pace, not as comfortable as he often is in possession, and even less mobile than usual.
Fabregas has subsequently missed our last four fixtures, not so much as making the match-day squad in any of them. The injury he suffered against the Gunners must have been more serious than first thought.
The Spaniard’s ability on the ball is almost unmatched in the Premier League. Scarcely is there a better passer of the ball in the country, perhaps the world.
Though not as dynamic as he once was, you have to think that he would thrive in Maurizio Sarri’s possession based system. We have been eager for him to regain his fitness and become available for selection.
We may not have to wait much longer to see Fabregas back on the field of play. Journalist Nizaar Kinsella posted the below image on Twitter of the 31-year-old running at Cobham.
