Marcos Alonso has been on Chelsea’s Instagram page answering some questions from fans, and he was inevitably asked about what his favourite goal was for the club.
He’s certainly got a few to choose from. There hasn’t been a better goalscoring defender in Europe since he came to Chelsea in 2016.
When asked about his best goal for Chelsea, Alonso hesitated for a while and replied: ‘It’s hard to pick one’.
But when pushed further, the Spaniard said: “The free-kick at Wembley against Spurs. I think everyone will agree.” Alonso continued his good scoring record against the Lilywhites with yet another goal this season as Frank Lampard’s side overcame Spurs 2-1 in February.
The 29-year-old has scored thrice each in all competitions against Spurs and Arsenal and is often referred to as the ‘scourge of North London’.
‘Best goal? I have to say my free-kick at Wembley against Spurs.’
Who agrees with @MarcosAlonso03? 😉
