What goalkeeper in their right mind would agree to stand in goal when Marcos Alonso’s practicing his free-kicks? Well, our very own Kepa Arrizabalaga, is the answer.
Kepa’s probably grown used to being left red-faced as Alonso’s free-kicks find the back of the net. He’ll have experienced it on the Cobham training pitches, and now he has to put up with it on international duty, too!
Luis Enrique is clearly a big fan of Marcos Alonso, having handed him his competitive international at Wembley against England. The Chelsea left-back looks like he’ll have a big role to play under Enrique, and that’ll come as a surprise to few.
Alonso is one of the most offensively minded full-backs in the world. He has all the attributes which make him a nightmare for opposing defences. Included in that skill-set is his deadly free-kicks.
He showcased them once more in La Roja training, finding the top corner of the goal twice from long-range, with Kepa not so much as bothering to move. Let’s hope he fires a few of these in for Chelsea this season…
