‘When he leads the attack, teams play better’ – Tuchel says of Chelsea player
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel makes some changes in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Lille as the Blues boss drop Lukaku and start Kai Havertz as a false 9.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Thomas Tuchel ‘feels’ that Chelsea ‘function better’ when Kai Havertz is leading the attack.
The German international was given the start over Romelu Lukaku against Lille despite the Belgian being fit.
The Telegraph adds that Havertz’s recent performances ‘strengthened some of the opinion around Chelsea’ that the team plays better without Lukaku.
The Mail adds that despite his benching, Lukaku ‘will not make any snap decisions over his long-term future’ with the club.
He will see how things are in the future is keen to start games for Chelsea.
Lukaku has started 21 games this season as the central striker, scoring 10 goals (six appearances off the bench). Havertz has scored five goals as the striker for both Germany and Chelsea this season (10 appearances at the position).
