‘Would definitely come to Chelsea’: Glen Johnson now confident Chelsea can sign £150m player ahead of Arsena
Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson thinks his old side are capable of landing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
According to FootballTransfers, Chelsea are leading the race to sign Victor Osimhen over Arsenal, who are one other club who are also thought to be interested in the striker.
When asked by GGRecon if Osimhen is the best signing the Blues could make in the centre-forward position, Johnson said: “Yes, I believe he is. This signing would be realistic and he’s already played for a top team like Napoli, where he won the Serie A title last season.
“He would potentially cost less than somebody like Ivan Toney because buying players from other Premier League clubs is super expensive. The player would definitely want to come to Chelsea in my opinion and I believe it’s a realistic deal for them to secure.”
The Nigerian was brilliant for Napoli last season, scoring 26 goals in 32 league appearances, but it is not a shock that he has remained at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium and not gone to a bigger club.
In March, Corriere dello Sport reported that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wanted £150m for his prized asset.
