‘Wow the best bit of skill I’ve ever seen’: Paul Merson amazed by what one player did in Chelsea vs Forest

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson could not believe what he saw from Anthony Elanga in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

The Forest winger, who scored the only goal of the game to condemn Chelsea to defeat, went on a late run towards the end of the game where he absolutely humiliated a few players in blue.

On that moment, Merson said while commentating on the match for Sky Sports (02/08/23 at 04:56 pm):

“Elanga, I mean he’s just done the best bit of skill I’ve ever seen. He’s beat three players on the touchline.”

It was an afternoon to forget for those players and the rest of Chelsea’s team, who have now won just one of their first four Premier League games this season.

They will now be looking to bounce back after the international break when they travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth.

There is no way Mauricio Pochettino will be happy with how his team have defended in this early part of the campaign

Elanga’s goal means that they have now conceded five times in just four games, with three of those coming against West Ham United last month.

In the likes of Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell, Chelsea obviously have some good and experienced defenders.

You would expect things to improve as times goes on. If not and Pochettino’s side also continue to struggle to scores goals, as they did today, this season could end up being a lot like the last one.

Reece James’ absence does not help, but hopefully he is ready to play again after the international break.
