Abramovich and Granovskaia approve plan to sell £33m Chelsea star this summer

Chelsea are reportedly ready to sell Hakim Ziyech after just one season at the club.

Ziyech has struggled for fitness and form since arriving from Ajax and there has been speculation about his future.

He has made just 15 league appearances since that £33m move and faces major competition for a place in boss Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Reports have suggested that Chelsea are likely to offload players this summer, with Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz among those touted for moves.

And the Express declare that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and director Marina Granovskaia have approved a plan to sell Ziyech.

The story is based on comments made by journalist Ian McGarry on the Transfer Window podcast.

McGarry said: “It is our information that Chelsea intend to sell this summer, having invested heavily to the extent of £230m last summer in rebuilding and of course recruiting to the squad.

“It is our information that a very well-known agent has been asked to market certain players, the most prominent being Hakim Ziyech who of course has not been at the club very long but Thomas Tuchel believes that the squad is top heavy in attacking midfielders and that Ziyech is probably the most expendable should they be able to recoup some of the investment in him.”
