Chelsea have opened talks to bring £400,000-a-week striker to the Bridge in summer!

Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Edinson Cavani as they look to land him on a free transfer this summer.

Cavani was one man that was constantly linked with a transfer move to London, especially after he handed in a transfer request as he sought to make the move away from PSG after 198 goals for the French giants.

But as we said, despite all the speculation and rumours, Chelsea could simply not get a deal done for the big striker and Lampard will have to get through the rest of the season with the squad that they currently have.

However, it seems that Chelsea are still keen to try and nail down the services of Cavani, as reports on L’EQUIPE have claimed that Chelsea have made contact with the players agents about a free summer move to Stamford Bridge.

But Chelsea will not have it all their own way, as the same report goes on to say that Atletico Madrid, Napoli and David Beckham’s Inter Miami side are also said to be interested in trying to nail down his services on a big time contract.

Tammy Abrahma recently claimed he would have welcomed a move for Cavani in the January window: ‘The players we were talking about bringing in were like Cavani and other top class strikers who have been around the game for many years,’ Abraham said in the Metro

‘It would have been nice if he had come. He would have been someone I can learn off and steal his ideas to add to my own. ‘It didn’t happen though and for me it gives me that extra push and desire to claim my position and be as best as I can.’

Look, CHELSEA fans are very frustrated at the fact that the club were unable to sign any players during the transfer window and that could scupper their chances of getting back inside the top four. But they cannot dwell on the failures of the transfer window and now need to try and keep up their decent start to the new season, and when the summer transfer window opens up, then they should do the type of business fans want to see.
