Chelsea ready to meet asking price after Tuchel asks for World Cup winner to be signed

Chelsea are ready to meet the £88 million asking price of Real Madrid for defender Raphael Varane.

Tuchel has done a wonderful job since his arrival just a few months ago and they are now on course to get back inside that top four spot, while also add a trophy to the cabinet in the Champions League or FA Cup, but we still need to add a new defender to the side

The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of 2022 and Madrid do not want to lose one of the clubs most important players for nothing, so they would reportedly be more willing to sell in the transfer window this time around.

Varane, for his part, is said to be open to a new challenge having spent a decade at the Bernabeu, but there has been a feeling that Chelsea could have been put off by his massive asking price.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, we are now leading the race to sign him and are ready to pay his massive asking price at the request of Tuchel.

Last week, Madrid President Florentino Perez gave Varane the green light to leave the club at the end of the season: “Varane? I’m happy with our team… if players don’t want to stay at Madrid they can leave,’ said Perez on AS.

Perez was the brains behind the European Super League and the Spaniard is not giving up hope that the proposal can go ahead, even withstanding the withdralls of the six Premier League clubs.

Varane is one of the very best defenders in world football and the fact that he could end up at the Bridge would be a massive statement from the club, he is certainly a player that would worry City boss Pep Guardiola.
