Harry Maguire finally sends ‘massive message’ to Chelsea fans and Frank Lampard over penalty decision

Chelsea and Manchester United played out a goalless draw at Old Trafford on Saturday, in what was a very cagey affair.

One highlight of the game was when Chelsea were denied a penalty decision as United skipper Harry Maguire grabbed Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta by the neck and prevented him from heading the ball during a corner kick.

Speaking after the game, Blues boss Frank Lampard showed his frustration with the decision of the VAR.

“Holding is allowed, but headlocks don’t go on,” Lampard told Match of the Day. “I don’t know why VAR didn’t take long and there’s also a monitor to look at. I think if the referee goes to the monitor he gives a penalty.”

Lampard also admitted that he’d love to hear what others think of the incident.

“Without a doubt [it was a penalty on Maguire],” said Lampard.

“I’m interested to see what everyone else says. I spoke to the lads about how many penalties they get here, over the last two seasons they’re miles ahead in Europe.”

Interestingly, Maguire has broken silence on the incident and posted a photo from the game when Reece James appeared to be holding Maguire during a set piece, while Azpilicueta was all over Scott McTominay.
