Lampard facing injury crisis with 8 players injured after Liverpool victory

As many as eight Chelsea players are now on the treatment table after the 2-0 victory over Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Mateo Kovacic and Willian limped off the Stamford Bridge pitch either side of half-time during the 2-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool.

Before the injuries to Kovacic and Willian on Tuesday, the Blues already had 6 players injured.

Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Andreas Christensen, Tammy Abraham, N’Golo Kante and Marco van Ginkel were all unavailable for the game against Liverpool due to injuries.

Jorginho will also be unavailable for selection for the game against Everton this weekend, giving Chelsea boss Frank Lampard a huge selection headache.

Speaking about the injuries to Kovacic and Willian, Lampard said: “Both have got an Achilles issue. Willian hopefully is not too bad, that is what he is reporting there so we will see how he is tomorrow. “Kovacic’s feels slightly worse. Hopefully not too drastic, so we’ll see.

“They’re off tomorrow, but we’ll have to have a bit of a count on Thursday, with the game Sunday, and see where we are with midfield players.

“Sometimes you can moan about injuries, and I have done because we had some big ones early in the season and particularly in recent times, but the reality is that you have to get on and keep with it. “And when the players show the fight they did tonight you hope that it gives them a bit of strength as a group for whoever comes in to keep moving forward.”
