“Not today”- The real date Chelsea sacked Frank Lampard finally revealed

According to reports, Chelsea FC have officially confirmed the sacking of Blues legend Frank Lampard as the club manager.

The club released an official statement, thus: “Chelsea Football Club have today parted company with Head Coach Frank Lampard.

“This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the owner and the Board have taken lightly.

“We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club. However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.

“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season.”

One would have thought that the 3-1 victory Luton Town would have earned Lampard some time, with home games against Wolves and Burnley also thought to be his warning games.

However, the deed had already been done since the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City. The defeat to the Foxes all but sealed Lampard’s sack letter, as the gaffer had already lost whopping number of games against the top teams this season.

The Athletic reporter Simon Johnson, rightly spoke about Lampard getting the sack if results go south against Leicester City.

Simon Johnson got the bashing for making such an audacious statement, but he was very right. Lampard’s sack was sure after the 2-0 defeat to the Foxes. The club didn’t want a distraction ahead of the FA Cup fourth round tie against Luton Town. Plans had already been put on ground to sign Thomas Tuchel to take over, and immediately after the Luton game, it didn’t take 24 hours for an official announcement to be made.
