“Roman is not happy with that” – Chelsea scout reveals clubs desire to keep transfers secret

The transfer window is often aptly named ‘silly season’ due to the amount of rumours floating around regarding who might be arriving at news clubs, and who might be leaving.

It often leaves you wondering where these stories are sourced from, are there leaks inside some clubs, is it a case of word of mouth growing, or are some of the stories plain and simply just made up?

Well, the desire by most clubs would be to keep their business quiet, it will often be on the players agents side where details and stories could be leaked for their clients gain so for example, to get other clubs bidding, or to get a new contract.

Chelsea have not always managed to keep deals behind closed doors in recent times, but when you look at how little we all knew about the agreement to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax until the deal was pretty much announced, it is clear that Chelsea are doing all they can to now keep deals a secret.

This has further been proven by the latest words from Chelsea scout and close friend of Roman Abramovich, Piet De Visser. As reported by Tribal Football, the Dutch scout said when pushed about Chelsea signing particular players:

“Roman is not happy with that. He does not want to be mentioned in the press, preferably not at all. “If I reveal Chelsea’s interest in a player, he’ll give me a penalty. That has happened to me before.

“I can survive a few penalties, but I like to keep to the agreements.”
