£150k-a-week star ‘has told Tuchel’ he wants to leave Stamford Bridge
According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has “made it known” to Thomas Tuchel and Todd Boehly that he wants to sign for Barcelona this summer.
The La Liga team, who have already signed his former Blues teammate Andreas Christensen, is thought to be interested in the 32-year-old.
According to SPORT, Azpilicueta should transfer to Barcelona during this transfer window, and it may happen quickly.
The same source claims that Chelsea’s search for a replacement is what has been delaying the Spaniard’s move to the Camp Nou.
Kalidou Koulibaly, a Senegal international who cost the west London side £33 million to acquire from Napoli, will either take the place of Antonio Rudiger or Christensen in the team.
If Azpilicueta decides to move to Spain like the former Blues combo, Tuchel will undoubtedly want a replacement.
Azpilicueta has informed Chelsea co-owner Boehly and Tuchel that he wants to transfer to Barcelona this summer, according to Jacobs, who spoke with GIVEMESPORT.
Speaking to GMS, the CBS reporter said: “Cesar Azpilicueta has been a model professional. He’s waited patiently as Chelsea and Barcelona negotiate. Chelsea want a seven million fee – the same amount they paid for him in 2012 when he joined from Marseille.
“Azpilicueta is training with Chelsea in America currently but has made it clear to Boehly and Tuchel he does want the move.”
