£156,000-a-week Chelsea star to leave Stamford Bridge for AS Monaco

Chelsea central midfielder Cesc Fabregas has reportedly appeared as a January target for Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

The Blues star is being strongly linked with a mid-campaign exit from Stamford Bridge, with the likes of AC Milan touted as a possible destination in recent weeks.

However, according to reports from French outlet France Football, as reported by Get French Football News via Twitter, they could face stiff competition from AS Monaco.

The Ligue 1 outfit have struggled immensely this campaign and currently languish in the relegation zone.

This has led coach Thierry Henry to explore possible transfer targets as the turn of the year draws ever closer, with Cesc understood to be among those under consideration.

Under Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, the Spanish star has fallen out of favour and finds himself playing a sporadic role in the senior team.

The likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have all been preferred for EPL fixtures, leaving Fabregas to settle for chances in cup competitions.

Nevertheless, the star could be on his way out of West London in the January transfer window, as interest from across the continent continues to build.
