22-year-old Chelsea man who was drop against Manchester United set to start against Everton

Chelsea are looking to return to winning ways again today when they take on Everton in the Premier League.

Their midweek exploits frustrated the fanbase as a whole, with them falling short of a result against Manchester United.

Despite a brilliant individual moment from Cole Palmer in the first half, they were defeated 2-1 and showed very little fight.

The backline in particular came in for some criticism, with their opponents consistently creating clear chances to add to their lead.

It is fair to expect then that Mauricio Pochettino will look to his squad to make some changes before the match against Everton today.

One glaring omission from the squad in midweek was Benoit Badiashile, despite the fact that he has been building his fitness back with a string of starts in recent weeks.

Badiashile crucial for Chelsea today

He was an unused substitute, with only Reece James being brought on to try and rectify the mistakes that were occurring at the back.

However, his inclusion today will be absolutely crucial in countering arguably Everton’s biggest strength.

Sean Dyche’s side have begun to fit the narrative of his standard style of play, with them utilising their physicality to their advantage.

The Blues when they chose to can also boast a tall side, and Badiashile would perfectly fit into that alongside one of Axel Disasi or Levi Colwill.

This would likely mean it would be the first trip to the bench for Thiago Silva in the Premier League at least.

However, with him now staggering towards 40 years of age, playing three games in seven days is likely going to be too much of a task for the Brazilian, and a chance at a glimpse of the future as far as Chelsea are concerned would be the best way forwards today.
