35-goal and 19-assist attacker told make Chelsea move – as Boehly ready to sanction £100M deal

It was reported that Ted Beohly is willing to splash the cash for Christopher Nkunku, former Chelsea great Glen Johnson believes the midfielder should transfer to Stamford Bridge.

It will undoubtedly be an intriguing transfer season for Chelsea and its fans, as Thomas Tuchel will almost certainly be backed with finances to bolster a squad that is in desperate need of improvement.

And Tuchel is well aware that he will need to dip into his transfer fund to buy players who will help the team score goals, given the fact that several of his players struggled in front of goal last season.

As a result, speculations in the media have stated that Chelsea are interested in signing Nkunku, who was just named the Bundesliga Player of the Year.

Last season, the 24-year-old scored 35 goals and added 19 assists as Leipzig finished fourth in the table – and a number of clubs are interested in a prospective transfer.

Leipzig are desperate to keep Nkunku and have set a prohibitively high asking price of £100 million to prevent him from leaving. However, reports claim that Chelsea are willing to meet Leipzig’s asking price because they are concerned that the competition for his signature will be even more fierce next summer.

However, reports also claimed that Ted Boehly has given the green light for a move to go ahead – especially as Romelu Lukaku looks all set to depart the club for a move back to Inter Milan

Now – amid all the speculation – ex-Chelsea full back Johnson spoke to bettingodds.com about the highly-rated midfielder – and encouraged him to make the move to Stamford Bridge this summer

Johnson said: “I believe Chelsea is a more realistic destination than Manchester United if both clubs are genuinely interested.

“A player going to a top team that’s had a really good season will be looking for Champions League football… I definitely think that’s where these sorts of players look first.

“If he was to leave RB Leipzig, then I think Chelsea could be a better fit.”
