8am Chelsea transfer news: €40m Leverkusen player waiting for Chelsea after turning down Arsenal offer, as Blues to sign talented player to five-year deal
According to latest reports, Chelsea and Arsenal were in the race for Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba but the Gunners’ advances have been turned down, making it a cheap one for the Blues.
Chelsea are keen on the signature of a centre-back and an opportunity to sign Real Madrid legend, Sergio Ramos has been lost as he has just pen a 2-year-deal with French Ligue 1 giant, Paris Saint Germain.
Edmond Tapsoba has now been identified as a Blues target to partner Thiago Silva with a deal being anticipated. He only moved to Germany 18 months ago when he signed from Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes in January 2020 but his performance will ensure he moves to a bigger stage, having attracted a lot of interest.
When asked about the plans for the summer, the player simply hinted that his fingers are crossed as he would be patiently awaiting the chance to join Chelsea this summer.
He told Burkina Info back in his homeland, that “With Chelsea FC, for the moment, there is nothing concrete, nothing official.
“What I can say is that I will start my season with Bayer Leverkusen.”
Blues to sign talented player to five-year deal
Chelsea are supposedly very close on agreeing a deal with Armando Broja over another five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The Albania international signed his first professional contract with the Premier League giants in February 2020 and made his first-team debut for the capital club against Everton a month later.
The 19-year-old was sent on loan to Vitesse for the 2020-21 campaign and enjoyed an amazing spell in the Netherlands, scoring 11 times in 34 appearances.
As indicated by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are finalising the final details on another contract until June 2026, with the youngster due to be part of first team this season.
Armando Broja spent time with Tottenham Hotspur during his youth career but has been with his present side since 2009, advancing through the different age groups to the first team.
Armando Broja has netted 16 times in 35 appearances for Chelsea Under-18s, while he has scored 3 times in 13 outings for the London club’s Under-23s.
