Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has been taken to court after he allegedly failed to pay child support for his two-year-old daughter, According to Daily Star.
Batshuayi’s former lover Gitte Van Der Elst claims Batshuayi missed two maintenance payments of £2,067 each, and has been late with several others for their two-year-old daughter, who he initially denied fathering.
However, Batshuayi was taken to court by his former lover in a criminal hearing in Mechelen, near Antwerp in Belgium.
Under Belgian law, failing to make two child maintenance payments can be ruled “family abandonment” and is punishable by up to six months jail and a fine, reveals Daily Star.
“As our child grows up I will tell her who her father is, but I will also tell her how hard it was for us at the beginning and that he didn’t want to even know her,” she said.
“He thinks I just want to better my financial situation but I don’t care about things like that.
“I just want my daughter, I don’t need him. All that matters is my girl’s future.”
