Chelsea have been repeatedly linked with a move for Real Madrid ace Isco over the past twelve months and if the latest reports are to be believed, the playmaker might well be on his way to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
According to El Desmarque, one of the most reputed sources in Spain, the 27-year-old is ready to kick start his career away from Madrid after spending seven seasons in the La Liga, having fallen down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane.
The most interesting part is that the report mentions Stamford Bridge as the Spaniard’s preferred destination, stemming from his girlfriend Sara Salamo’s wish to shift to West London.
Well, if that holds true, then Chelsea could be in the driver’s seat ahead of Man City and Bayern Munich in the race to sign the coveted playmaker in the summer.
Isco has a contract at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2022 but it is understood that Madrid would be willing to cash in on him for a fee of around £45 million, given that he hasn’t really hit top gear over the past 18 months.
The Spaniard, though, was on target in the 2-1 loss against Man City in the first leg of the round-of-16 Champions League tie on Wednesday night.
However, it remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard would be keen on a deal for Isco after already sealing a move for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech.
