Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been included in the Chelsea squad for the last three games, but hasn’t featured so far.
Loftus-Cheek hasn’t played a competitive game since suffering an Achilles injury in a friendly in the United States back in May.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard can’t wait to have the 24-year-old back in his team, but has admitted that the midfielder isn’t yet fit.
It was expected that Loftus-Cheek would feature in Tuesday’s FA Cup clash against Liverpool, but the Chelsea midfielder might sit out on that game and play with the development squad as they face Everton on Monday.
Speaking after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, the Blues boss told a press conference that Loftus-Cheek would be involved in the development squad’s match against Everton on Monday as he admitted that Loftus-Cheek isn’t yet match fit.
Speaking ahead of Bournemouth game, Lampard said: “Ruben is in the squad again for tomorrow.”
“We haven’t had great opportunity to get Ruben as much game time as much as we want.
“I felt against Tottenham he could be an impact of some sort in the game but Bayern was a different animal of a game so I took a different decision for him to get some good training in during the week.
“It would mean a lot to have him back. It’s a lonely place being out for that long. He was in a very good run of form last year.
“I thought he was playing really well and you could see his development and confidence of getting in the first team.
“He hasn’t kicked a ball for me but with the ability he’s got, he’s one of the most exciting English midfield players in the Premier League because of the attributes he has so we all want him back.”
