Chelsea have this afternoon confirmed on their website that players are not training, and that the Men’s facility at Cobham has been closed.
In a statement released on the club’s official site, they explained that due to Callum Hudson-Odoi having tested positive for coronavirus last night, all players and staff had been sent home.
The Men’s training building has also been shut, but the rest of the Cobham site remains open.
Players are set to return to train again “in the coming days” according to the notice, but no exact date is given. Given both the Premier League and Champions League have been suspended, they will be in no rush to return.
In fact, given its extremely likely other players have picked up the virus from Callum, it seems wise to wait as long as possible for them all to be thoroughly tested and for any dormancy period of the disease to end.
Let’s hope these measures mean everything is back to normal as soon as possible, without any further spread.
