Chelsea are keen to wrap up a summer deal for AC Milan stopper Gianluigi Donnarumm, but is he the right signing?
Frank Lampard is a man on mission and is looking to spend some serious money at the end of the season and improve this squad enough to challenge for more than a top four spot, and the club legend has already started his transfer business.
Despite not spending any money during the January window, a few days after the winter window closes, Chelsea managed to seal a £37 million deal to bring the highly-impressive and very creative Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech to the club, a move that has been praised by many in the media.
And now, it looks like that he is keen to sign a new stopper as there is a lot of talk that he is not impressed with the performances of Kepa, who has struggled between the sticks this season and has come under intense criticism from the boss for some of his more high-profile performances.
And having long been admirers of Donnarumma, the news that Milan could be willing to flog their highly-rated young goalkeeper will be music to Chelsea chiefs’ ears, especially as reports on the Calciomercato website have also suggested Chelsea are ready to pay him a massive £7 million-a-season to sign up. The youngster has now already made 190 appearances for Milan, while amassing 16 international caps, with many claiming that he is the next Gianluigi Buffon.
COULD HE BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR CHELSEA?
Look, Kepa is a brilliantly gifted young man that will develop into a world class star, there is no doubt about that, so if he is to leave the club at the end of the season, then Donnarumma would be a massively brilliant replacement.
If reports are true and Chelsea are keen on Donnarumma, then he is a world class signing AND WILL MOST CERTAINLY IMPROVE THAT AREA BETWEEN THE STICKS. But there is still a feeling that Chelsea need a more established player to arrive. There are so many world class players out there, and Chelsea will surely be linked with these stars, but they need to make the right moves or they will have issues again next season.
