Trevoh Chalobah is confident he can break into the Chelsea first- team as boss Frank Lampard has given several youngsters that very opportunity this season.

Lampard came into Chelsea last summer with the inability to sign any top level players because of that transfer ban, and had to give a number of young players a chance to shine this season in order to just make up the numbers at the club.

And despite his lack of managerial skills, he has brought thought some of the most talented players in the game, with the likes of youth-team graduates Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James and Fikayo Tomori all making an impression on the Chelsea side this season.

Now, it seems that talented players like Chalobah are hoping to return to the club during the summer window and make an impression under Lampard, as the Huddersfield loanee Chalobah admitted he now believes that he could break into that Chelsea squad on a regular basis, telling the club website:: “I keep in contact with almost every day as well- Reece, Mason, Fikayo, Tammy, all of them.

”I’m just happy for them because it shows the hard work they’ve put in and going out on loan for a few years has paid off.

”They’ve done so well and it just shows that it doesn’t matter about your age because if you’re good enough, then you’re old enough.

”That’s what Frank has brought, giving the young players confidence for them to go out there and show people that they are capable of doing what they can do now, and you can see that in their performances.”
