Chelsea under Frank Lampard are off to a good start. The Blues began the season with a 3-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion. Although the game wasn’t particularly smooth for Chelsea, they did come up with the win.

Brighton was played very well and if it wasn’t for the penalty the game could have gone in a totally different way. However, in Chelsea’s defense, there was a lot of reshuffling in the team. Kai Havertz and Timo Werner both made their very first start for the season. Both of them were impressive and they’ll only get better with time. Werner also won the spot-kick to open the scoring.

Chelsea are also without some of the key players. Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Ben Chilwell were also out for the club due to injury. There is still doubt if any of them will start for Chelsea in the game against Liverpool.

Chelsea completed the signing of Thiago Silva from PSG on a free transfer. Silva has been one of the key players for PSG over the years and Frank Lampard will be hoping he can do the same for Chelsea.

It was surprising to see Silva’s name absent from the team sheet. There were rumors that he missed his flight and hence could not be there for the game. But according to the Express, Silva has been given extended leave by Chelsea due to his Champions League adventures.

And he will join the team for the game against Liverpool. But the key question is that will Lampard make a change in the defensive lineup or will it be the same as it was against Brighton.

Although famous pundit Gary Neville has expressed concerns over Silva. It’s an unknown,” he told Sky Sports.”He’s 35, turning 36 next week and he’s played in the French league for the last few years and the intensity is nothing like the Premier League.

“That’s not to say PSG don’t have world-class players, they’ve just got to a Champions League final.”But if you talk about the Premier League, particularly the intensity of this season which is compact, it is going to be a massive challenge for him to deal with the intensity, the amount of games, the speed of the football compared to what he’s been used to.

However, the veteran experience is always crucial for a club. Thiago Silva has been at the biggest stage of football and is acquainted with every pressure situation. If he manages to stay fit he will certainly prove out to be a good pick up for Chelsea.
