Chelsea have since agreed personal terms with Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, with the Senegal international expected to sign a five-year contract with the club. But the Blues have been unable to reach an agreement with the club over a suitable transfer fee.
Reports had claimed that Rennes wanted Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori to be part of the deal, which was part of the reason for the delay. But the player’s agent Djily Dieng has now confirmed that all is set for Mendy to become a Chelsea player.
Mendy is expected to move to London and undergo medical, as well as put final touches to the deal before the deal will be confirmed.
Dieng even admits that the deal could be announced tomorrow.
“The two parties have come to an agreement,” Dieng told Senegalese newspaper Stades.
“All that’s left is the formalisation. It could even be done tomorrow, if all goes well.
“Afterwards, the player himself will come to finalise everything, including having his medical examination.”
