RECORD BREAKER: After matching a 16-year record, Mendy has now matched another 10-year Chelsea record
From being a defensive mess since last season, and even at the start of the season, Chelsea’s defence has now looked like a rock in recent times.
It’s been from clean sheet to clean sheet for Edouard Mendy who has conceded just one goal in seven games.
Following the 3-0 win against Burnley last weekend, Mendy matched a 16 year old Chelsea record. Mendy became the first Chelsea goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in each of his first 3 Premier League appearances since Petr Cech in August 2004.
And now, Mendy has now broken another 10-year record at the club. Chelsea have now kept five successive clean sheets in all competitions for the first time since 2010.
With Mendy in goal, the Blues have now kept three straight clean sheets in the Champions League for the first time since 2009-10.
From a defence that conceded 11 goals from their first five Premier League matches this season, Chelsea’s defence have now become a fortress.
