Deal has been struck between Chelsea and Madrid as Spaniard ‘to get fresh start’ in January

Chelsea forgotten man Marcos Alonso is reportedly set to join Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

We are just a few days away from the opening of the January transfer window and there is alot of speculation in the media that the board will hand Lampard some funds in order to sign a few players that will finish off his spending.

However, Chelsea have a massive squad and will need to offload a few players well before we are able to bring some players into the squad, meaning that stars like Alonso are no longer needed at the club.

However, according to recent reports on the Independent, The Blues were now in talks with Madrid to try and get a transfer deal done for the left-back.

The Spanish giants are looking to bring the 30-year-old in on an initial loan deal as Diego Simeone seeks to bolster his defensive ranks for the second half of the season.

And the reports says Chelsea are ready to sanction Alonso’s departure, with Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri currently ahead of the Spaniard in the squad pecking order

Now reports have emerged which have suggested A fresh start in the Spanish capital awaits Alonso with a deal now struck between the two clubs, who will likely be at home in Simeone’s five-at-the-back system, which could free Yannick Carrasco to cover on the opposite flank for Trippier.

Look, Alonso has been a decent servant for the club over the past few seasons and we have enjoyed watching him play, but at the end of the day, he is done at the club and it is the best thing for him to move on.

Chelsea already have enough players in that position and may even look to find a replacement, so if the reports are true and a deal has been agreed, Chelsea will wish the man all the best of luck.

It is his time to leave the club and seek a fresh challenge, the wages may be great, but at the end of the day, he should be playing at this stage of his professional career.
