Chelsea to land AS Roma star defender , Blues prepared to pay 45m for Argentine star, as star insists Chelsea keen to ‘win trophy’

Chelsea and Manchester United are both targeting a swoop for Roma defender Gianluca Mancini. The Italian star has impressed in Serie A this season, proving effective at both ends of the pitch for his side.

Mancini has featured in 24 of the Giallorossi’s 27 league matches this term, keeping seven clean sheets and netting four goals in the process.

The 24-year-old star was signed by Roma at the start of this season, having spent the 2019/20 term on loan at the club.

Mancini began his career at Serie C club Perugia, before signing for Atalanta back in 2017. His move to the Eternal City included a ten per cent sell on fee.

Premier League interest is nothing new for the central defender, having previously been tracked by Everton during his Atalanta days.

But now two of the biggest PL sides are understood to be keen to seal a deal as the Blues and the Red Devils prepare to battle it out in the transfer market.

Roma do not want to sell the towering centre-half, who they view as an important player in the club’s future but every player has a price.

The negative financial implications caused by coronavirus will result in clubs being able to propose offers in the region of £27m, which the Italian outfit may be tempted by at a time of uncertainty.

Gianluca was on the scoresheet during Roma’s UEFA Europa League Round of 16 first leg tie with Shakhtar Donetsk last week, helping his side to a comfortable 3-0 win.

Blues prepared to pay 45m for Argentine star

Juventus are prepared to sell Paulo Dybala this summer with Chelsea and Tottenham among the clubs interested in signing the Argentine.

Dybala has scored just three times for the Bianconeri during an injury-hit season and is now approaching the final year of his contract with the club.

With talks over a new deal reportedly at a standstill, Juventus are likely to cash in on the 27-year-old this summer.

The club’s sporting director Pavel Nedved recently moved to dismiss talk of head coach Andrea Pirlo and Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the club, but left the door open for Dybala’s exit.

‘We miss Paulo, he would have guaranteed us different attacking options and goals,’ Nedved told DAZN.

‘He has a contract for one more year and I have nothing more to add to what [CEO Fabio] Paratici and president [Andrea] Agnelli have already said.

‘But it is clear that at Juventus we evaluate every business opportunity.’ Barcelona were once prepared to pay in the excess of €100m for Dybala but the forward’s current form and the financial impact of Covid-19 on football means those days are long gone.

Marca report the Premier League is his most likely destination with Tottenham and Chelsea interested in a deal. Chelsea are willing to pay up to €45m for the former Palermo starlet.

England U21 international insists Chelsea keen to ‘win trophy’

Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed the club’s ‘main aims’ for the rest of the campaign with Thomas Tuchel’s team currently in the top four and still in contention for the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

The German took over from club icon Frank Lampard at the end of January and is yet to taste defeat in his first 14 matches in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The west Londoners have climbed up to fourth in the standings and recorded an impressive 3-0 aggregate win over La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid to reach the quarter-finals of the UCL.

Last weekend, the west London outfit also booked a meeting with Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals after beating Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United 2-0 in the quarters at Stamford Bridge.

And Callum has admitted Chelsea are aiming to cement their place in the Top 4, go as far in Europe as possible and also get to the final of the FA Cup.

‘We want to win a trophy, try and get to the FA Cup final, try and get as far in the Champions League as possible and try and finish in the top four in the Premier League so that’s definitely our main aims for Chelsea,’ Callum told Sky Sports.

Callum has already earned three caps for his country but missed out on Gareth Southgate’s 26-man roster for upcoming World Cup qualifiers versus San Marino, Albania and Poland.
