Luis Suarez heaped praise on Chelsea £110,000 a-week star

Atletico Madrid superstar Luis Suarez says Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is the toughest defender that he has faced in his career.

The 34-year-old Uruguay international forward , joined Atletico Madrid last summer after six seasons with Barcelona, where he has managed to win 13 tittles.

The Uruguayan rose to prominence in Europe during his time with Dutch giants, Ajax, which earned him a £23m switch to Premier League giants, Liverpool back in 2011.

Suarez lit up the English top-tier before a £75m move to Spanish giants back in 2015 and he also led his country to Copa America glory in 2011, as well as appearing in three World Cup tournaments.

The 34-year-old forward has come up against the world’s elite defender during his impressive career, however, Suarez says Chelsea centre-back Silva is the hardest opponent.

‘A defender that has given me trouble and that I have faced several times was Thiago Silva,’ said Suarez.

‘He is an admirable defender who I have always liked.’

Silva joined Tomas Tuchel’s side on an initial one-year deal last summer, however, the Brazilian is keen to remain at Stamford Bridge.

His deal includes the option to extend stay at Stamford Bridge for another 12 months.

Silva’s new contract means he’ll be 37 when his contract expires in the Premier League.
