‘They love his footballing ability, got his name on the back of their shirts’ – Joe Cole reveals how his kids loves Chelsea player after 4-0 win over Juventus
After an impressing pre-season, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel decided to give the young defender Trevoh Chalobah a chance in the first team.
However, Trevoh Chalobah started out the season as a young centre-back who only just managed to get into the Chelsea team with hopes of getting a minute or two, as he was expected to go out on loan during the summer.
Now, Chalobah has won his way into the team this season and has started back to back games against Leicester City and Juventus.
The 22-year-old was named man of the match after an impressive display in the 4-0 win over Juventus, and Joe Cole could only rave about the Chelsea academy product, as he revealed that his children are massive fans of the Blues defender.
However, the former Blues star Joe Cole said: “We watched him in Belfast in the Super Cup and he was outstanding in that game. Thomas Tuchel put him in a big game, I know we don’t perceive it as a big game, but to put him in that game against Villarreal, he dealt with it brilliantly. It’s great. Cole told BT Sport
“What he’s an example of is the academy because he’s such a good character and they instill that philosophy and the beliefs into the players from a young age.
“As they get older, they go out on loan, he takes a little bit from his experience at Ipswich, a little bit from his experience at Lorient, little bit working with Thiago [Silva]. It really is like a university for football and then you produce a player like Trevoh who is now playing in the Champions League and not looking out of place.
“He’s a great kid. His brother as well would have helped him. He will come into this team and nothing will daunt him. Playing against Morata and Chiesa won’t be a problem. He’s a fantastic young player.
“My kids have got Trevoh Chalobah on the back of their shirts. They love his hair as well as his footballing ability.”
