BREAKING: Premier League sends strong warning message to Roman Abramovich as he puts Chelsea on sale
According to reports, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has warned Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that he will be unable to sell Chelsea if he sanctioned by the UK government.
However, Abramovich has been the owner of Chelsea since 2003 but announced on Wednesday he had made the “incredibly difficult decision” to put Chelsea up for sale amid talk he could face sanctions from the UK Government
Asked what would happen regarding the sale if Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK, Masters told the Financial Times Business of Football Summit: “I don’t think that will work.”
Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss and American investor Todd Boehly are understood to be two of the parties joining forces to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.
