Chelsea player passes Medical with club, €400M Release Clause inserted as £97M star to hold Tuchel talks
According to reports, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has completed his Real Madrid medical ahead of his summer exit.
Last month, it was disclosed that the German international will leave Chelsea at the end of the season when his contract with the club expires.
Rudiger will have spent five years at Chelsea after joining from Roma in the summer of 2017, but he will now transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu and play for Real Madrid beginning next season.
The centre-back has already completed his physical at the La Liga giants, according to The Athletic.
His deal in Spain is expected to pay him approximately €9-10 million per year, with a €400 million release clause in case anyone wants to sign him in the future.
Rudiger’s contract will run until 2026, and the deal will be finalized after Madrid’s Champions League final against Liverpool at the end of the month.
Chelsea will now aim to replace him during the summer transfer window, with Jules Kounde being one of three or four choices.
£97M star to hold Tuchel talks
Romelu Lukaku is set to hold talks with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season regarding his Chelsea future as he continues to be linked with a move away this summer.
Chelsea made the big decision last summer window to bring back Lukaku to the club in a deal worth £98 million as Thomas Tuchel wanted to sign a proven top-class forward
Lukaku become the most deadly striker in Italian football and many fans were hoping that his arrival would bring goals, and along with that, more trophies to add to the cabinet.
However, that has not been the case and Lukaku has looked nothing like the man that dominated Serie A last season, and has even admitted that he simply cannot adapt to the style of play of Tuchel
And of course that has led to all sorts of speculation in the media that Chelsea would be very open to letting him leave the club and use the money to sign an adequate replacement.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, Lukaku will discuss his future with Tuchel before making any decision about whether or not he should look to leave the club when the transfer window opens up.
Writing in his Caught Offside column: “So far it is too early to think about his future, but certainly Lukaku intends to speak with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the current season to understand the club’s plans as Romelu wants to be a key player for next season.”
