Reports: Chelsea could consider £60m striker if latest deal fails
The summer transfer of Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked to Chelsea.
However, Chelsea is anticipated to complete this transaction before the transfer deadline, although the Blues are rumored to be preparing backup plans in the event that a deal for Aubameyang falls through.
According to media outlet Diario Sport, Chelsea could make a swoop for Alvalro Morata if the club’s attempt to sign Aubameyang eventually fails.
Morata was signed as a £60m replacement for Diego Costa in 2017, but he wasn’t able to succeed at Stamford Bridge, and has since shuffled between Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
Morata scored 24 goals in 72 games for the Blues but was mostly characterised by his ‘big misses’.
The 29-year-old has started the season in fine form for Atletico Madrid, and scored a brace in their opening Liga fixture against Getafe.
